Registered Nurse, Certified Lactation Consultant and, most importantly, Mother of 7

I consider myself to be incredibly lucky in that I have 7 (yes, you read that right!) beautiful and unique children. They bring joy and happiness—and sometimes chaos—to my every day! I am also blessed with an amazing husband who helps with the crazy brood.

Breastfeeding my babies wasn’t really a question for me…it was just the right thing to do for their health, as well as mine…not to mention the cost savings and convenience. No formula to buy and no messy bottles to deal with! And, best of all, the bonding time! There is nothing I’ve loved more than that closeness between us during feeding times.

As a registered nurse, and with my inherent love of babies and my support of breastfeeding, it only seemed natural for me to become a Certified Lactation Consultant. I love teaching the benefits of breastfeeding to new and expecting moms. And who doesn’t need a little help now and then? Sharing the nursing techniques I’ve learned over the years and giving moms the support they need during this time gives me such pleasure!

I hope Amy’s Corner gives you the opportunity to see that you are not alone—everyone has questions and concerns regarding breastfeeding. I also hope that my comments, answers and support will allow you to overcome your concerns and find that, with just a bit of help, your breastfeeding experience can and will be a joyful one for both you and your baby.
