My baby is a month old and I have noticed that my breasts are not full when it is time to nurse. Does this mean my supply is decreasing?

It is very common to notice that your breasts are softer between feedings and when it is time to feed as your baby gets older. In the first few weeks your milk supply is in overdrive. It takes a few weeks for your body to adjust to what your baby’s needs are. As long as your baby is happy for an hour or two after she nurses and has at least 5 to 6 wet diapers and at least one bowel movement (approximately the size of your baby’s fist) more than likely she’s getting all the breastmilk she needs. If you still have concerns you may want to contact a lactation consultant, La Leche League leader or your baby’s pediatrician.
