My mother-in-law says I should already be giving my baby solids. She is only 3 months old. When is a good time to start?

baby food

This is probably one of the most frequently asked questions by new moms.  The American Academy of Pediatrics and LaLeche League recommend starting solids at around 6 months of age for an exclusively breastfed baby. You may also want to be looking for developmental milestones in your infant. Is she able to sit with support? Is she reaching out for food when she watches you eat? Some babies are ready around 5 months and some not until 7 or 8 months.

This would be a very good question to bring up to your daughter’s doctor at her next checkup.  Until you are both ready to introduce solids, enjoy your time nursing your daughter and don’t let what others say worry you!
