Celebrate World Health Day with Leading Lady by Breastfeeding
The World Health Organization’s annual World Health Day is a global event to raise awareness for health issues. Kicking off this Sunday, April 7, the theme of this year’s World Health Day is high blood pressure, a preventable condition that can cause heart attack, kidney failure or stroke.
On World Health Day, we are reminded that, as human beings, we all face health risks and challenges, but it is up to us to take responsibility for our health and the health of our families. And celebrating with a global community takes us back to the universal language of love, nurture and providing the best for our children.
At Leading Lady, we celebrate health through one of the healthiest ways a mom can care for herself and her children: breastfeeding. Breast milk is the perfect food for babies because it provides a complete source of nutrients that change as the baby grows older. Breastfed babies on average have healthier immune systems and are less likely to have respiratory and ear infections, develop childhood cancers and have allergies.
For moms, breastfeeding has immediate advantages after giving birth, including less bleeding, faster contraction of the uterus and some serious calorie burning to help return to your pre-baby size. Studies show that breastfeeding reduces a woman’s risk of breast, uterine and ovarian cancer, and high blood pressure. Breastfeeding also tends to create a faster bond between mother and baby, allowing both to feel more relaxed, which may reduce postpartum depression.
We hope you’ll take a moment to reflect on your family’s health this World Health Day. We’re so glad you’re on a breastfeeding journey with us and to show our appreciation, we’re offering 25% off Leading Lady nursing t-shirt bras through April 9.
Cheers to World Health Day!
