How do I deal with unsolicited advice and commentary about breastfeeding my son from family and friends during the holiday?

You will undoubtedly come across someone during your holiday visits who is not as comfortable with your breastfeeding as you would like them to be. Prepare yourself for any less-than-supportive comments that may come your way. Decide ahead of time what you will say to them so that you aren’t flustered or angered by their comments.

If your child is older than a few months old you may get comments about this, as well. Don’t feel as though you have to explain your decision about how long you are going to breastfeed to anyone. If they have an issue, it is theirs, not yours.

When traveling, look up your rights before you go. Know what the laws are in the state or country you may be visiting.

The important thing is to know you and your baby are reaping the benefits of breastfeeding.
